Two for Tuesday: Strong Female Leads

Week 1: Two books with a strong female lead

It was difficult choosing just two. I don’t think my first choice will come as much of a surprise, considering how often I gush about it.

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

The fact that Starr turned a tragedy into an opportunity for activism is absolutely amazing. The Hate U Give also worked out amazingly on screen, too. I can’t get enough of Angie Thomas and I need to get a copy of On the Come Up asap.

In Real Life by Cory Doctorow, Illustrated by Jen Wang

I read In Real Life when I first started getting into graphic novels. Anda is going through a huge transition in life, moving to a new city and trying to find her bearings at school. This game becomes a safe-haven for her. It’s also a story that isn’t all surface material, it deals with actual issues facing the world today.

Have you read either of these books?

What are some other books with strong female leads?

What are some books I should check out?

Let me know in the comments!
