Down the TBR Hole #5

I think I’m starting to get into a nice little routine with these posts. I may change the formatting next time, just to experiment. As always, click the titles for links to the Goodreads pages.

The Rules

  •  1. Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  •  2. Order on ascending date added.
  •  3. Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books.
  •  4. Read the synopsis of the books.
  •  5. Time to Decide: keep it or should it go

Wind-Up Hearts by Stan Swanson

Wind-Up Hearts by Stan Swanson

A romance/steampunk/sci-fi novel. Yeah, not for me.

Verdict: Let it go

Getting A Life, Even If You’re Dead by Beth Watson

Getting A Life, Even If You're Dead by Beth Watson

This book was added to my TBR back in 2014. Paranormal doesn’t speak to me anymore even if the synopsis sounds pretty cool.

Verdict: Unhaul

Hollow World by Michael J. Sullivan

Hollow World by Michael J. Sullivan

I really like the synopsis, it reminds of why I added Hollow World to my TBR in the first place. I don’t really read fantasy nowadays, but maybe this could be the book that puts it back on my radar.

Verdict: Keep

The Stars Were Right by K.M. Alexander

The Stars Were Right by K.M. Alexander

To be completely honest, the synopsis sounds super cool and The Stars Were Right has a 4.12 rating on Goodreads. Most people would see those as reasons to keep this on their TBR. I am not most people.

Seeing that I added this over five years ago and it’s in both the fantasy and horror categories, I don’t think this is for me. That being said.

Verdict: Remove

White Space by Ilsa J. Bick

White Space by Ilsa J. Bick

I remember White Space being super popular when it first came out. I was into fantasy and alternate realities back then, so I had always planned to read it when my library had it in stock. I don’t think it ever did, and if it did, I never actually got it.

The synopsis does still sound super cool, but that fantasy/horror mix isn’t my jive anymore. So…

Verdict: Leave it behind

Today I unhauled four books and kept one. My TBR is still well over 300 but it’s getting there.

Have you read any of these books?

I get that, I was on the fence about doing these too until I started. There are books in my TBR that I added over five years ago and now have no intention of reading so it’s kind of refreshing to do these and see the numbers go down 😄
