Let’s *Finally* Catch Up

Hey y’all! I know I’ve been pretty MIA for over a month now. Everything that’s been going on with Covid-19 has honestly been stressing me out. My school’s campus is shut down and I’m working from home. All my classes are online and that’s been a tough transition. It hasn’t been great for my mental health and I was getting a lot of headaches that first week from staring at a screen all day. I lost my motivation for a while and I would find myself logging into WordPress and exiting right out because I felt like I just couldn’t write anything.

That being said, I’ve started to get a rhythm going now. Like I’ve said before when I take these unexpected breaks, I love writing but life has a habit of getting in the way. I wish I’d gotten those Top 5 Tuesdays done before this started but, se la vie.

*Life Stuff*

The pageant I’d mentioned in our last catching up session was cancelled. It was supposed to be on April 4th. We had a fun photo shoot the month before things went south and I posted those pictures to Twitter if you want to check them out below.

Finals are coming up pretty soon and most of my classes are asking for papers instead of exams. Oh, the life of an English major. So if I do disappear from the blogosphere again, just know that I’m fervently writing 7 page essays.

I’ve been reading for my classes. The stories we’ve been reading for Science Fiction have truly been out of this world (no, literally). The same can be said for one of our Literature and Environment reads. I’ve been updating my Goodreads page but I haven’t written a full review in what seems like forever.

I plan on posting more on what I’ve been reading and watching lately. I’ve definitely spent a lot of time on Netflix and Hulu. That probably wasn’t helping the eye situation.

Sidenote: When did WordPress update it’s post editor? Does it look super different, or have I just been gone for too long?

Okay, this is starting to sound depressing *throws confetti in the air* That’s better.

    Hi, Rae! It’s good to have you back, even if just for a little while due to your course work. You amaze me with all you do. I’m so glad we had no such thing as online courses when I was in college. (The internet hadn’t been invented yet. LOL!) I would think it would be a difficult transition from ordinary classroom instruction, and I hadn’t even thought about the toll it would take on one’s eyes.

    Regarding the post editor on WordPress, I’m still adjusting to it. I’m not sold on it, but It’s probably just because I don’t like learning new computer programs.

    The pageant photos are beautiful!

      Thank you so much Janet! I’m happy to be back. I really missed the blogging community and the joy that writing brings me. It was definitely a tough transition but I’m getting the hang of it now.

      The new editor is kind of weird. It basically just moved everything around.

      I’m so happy with how those photos came out! There was a lot of stuff that happened behind the scenes to get that end result 😀

    Oh man! That’s a lot of transitioning you had to do, but I do hope things will get better for you. The epidemic has been hard on everyone. For me, a family member passed in Jamaica (not related to coronavirus) but because of everything going on, we can’t go there to be with family and have a good funeral and say final goodbyes. It’s been hard, but I’m doing things I enjoy to not think about it too much.
    I think you should go with the flow of your mood. Blog if you feel like blogging and do what puts you at ease. 🙂

        Thank you so much! They were trying to reschedule it for May but everything’s up in the air until since campus will be closed over the summer too. I do hope it gets rescheduled though

      Thank you so much for your encouraging words! I’m so sorry for your lost. My mom has a friend from work that recently passed away (also unrelated to coronavirus) and they were only allowed to have ten people at the funeral. This is such a weird time to be living in but I’m confident that we’ll be able to get through it.

      You’re comment means a lot. I often beat myself up about not posting enough and that just makes it harder to restart. I’m going to try to go easy on myself this time around 🙂
