Book of the Month ~ April

Published by

With everything that went on last month, I didn’t get a chance to buy a book for March. Good thing I bought two in February after all.

My local bookstore is selling online right now so I made sure to snag a copy of a book I’ve had my eye on for months. I even mentioned it last week.

Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams

Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams

Goodreads Synopsis: Queenie Jenkins is a 25-year-old Jamaican British woman living in London, straddling two cultures and slotting neatly into neither. She works at a national newspaper, where she’s constantly forced to compare herself to her white middle class peers. After a messy break up from her long-term white boyfriend, Queenie seeks comfort in all the wrong places…including several hazardous men who do a good job of occupying brain space and a bad job of affirming self-worth.

As Queenie careens from one questionable decision to another, she finds herself wondering, “What are you doing? Why are you doing it? Who do you want to be?”—all of the questions today’s woman must face in a world trying to answer them for her.

I’m so happy to have this beauty on my bookshelf. I don’t think I can stress enough just how beautiful this is. I love the detail of it and the fact that the braids weave into the title. It’s so creative.

Make sure to support your local bookstore if you can right now!
