January Reading Wrap-Up

Hey y’all! The first month of 2021 has already come to an end and I actually got a lot of reading done. Can you believe it? Is time even real at this point?

January was a busy month and I never got around to making a December wrap-up. I guess I was just over 2020 by that point. Anywho, it’s time for those sweet, sweet graphs.

Reading Stats

I read 13 books in January, making a total of 3,780 pages. I listened to 5 of them as audiobooks, 4 of which I got through my library’s app. Most of these were pleasure reads but 4 were books for class.

I’m pretty happy with the amount of reading I got done this past month. I actually read 13 books in December too so it’s been an active couple months for me. Only one funny book this month, that’s interesting.

I had an interesting mix of paces this month. Usually fast pace makes up a bigger chunk of the pie.

I finally read a book that was over 500 pages and I’m honestly embarrassed by it. It was Midnight Sun and I absolutely hated it. 0/10, would not recommend.

One of the nonfiction books was for my Creative Writing class. The other one was a graphic novel I read for The Haitian Readathon.

I actually read fantasy this month but I do think one of those books should be in sci-fi instead of fantasy. Of course YA took up most of my reads and no one is surprised.

Star Ratings Reading Graph from the StoryGraph - Rae's Reads and Reviews

This was one of the biggest ranges in ratings I’ve ever had. It was the first time I ever rated a book 1 star (that book being Midnight Sun). But I also had a handful of 5 star reads and I enjoyed most of what I read in January.

What’s Poppin?

Here are the four posts that did the best this month. I’m really happy with how these did, especially with the amount of time I put into them.

Funny how these all have the same banner theme. I’ve been enjoying putting these lists together and I’m happy people have been enjoying them.

My list of 16 January releases did really well. It took me a while to put together because there weren’t any lists online separated by months so I’m happy I was able to fill that gap in searches.

More mental illness rep recommendations! I love doing posts with mental illness rep. It just makes me so happy to see that represented in novels.

I decided to share 10 books I want to read this year. I didn’t make any official goal posts so this was the closest I did to that. Hopefully I get to all of these this year.

The last one is a list I put together for February releases. It has a range of children and adult books. The accompanying post I made for it on Instagram did EXTREMELY well.

How was your January? Did you find any new favorites? Do you have any plans for February? Let me know in the comments below, let’s chat!

Webtoons still count as reading! I got a lot of reading done right before school started and as an English major, I’m constantly reading for school so that’s why I got through so much

It’s super cool! I’ve been reading so many books I probably wouldn’t have even known about before and I love analyzing them

I don’t really have bookish plans for this month. I had a slump, so I wasn’t expecting to get much done, then I had a spurt of reading energy. Now I think I’m heading back into a slump haha

Okay Charming as a Verb was EXCELLENT! I laughed so much and felt the pain of college/uni decisions in my soul!!!!! Overall my January was very successful with lots of 4 and 5 star reads! Plans for February are to play it by ear, but I do have some audiobooks calling my name, specifically Clap When You Land!

Looks like you had a good reading month Rae! I definitely read more in January than I did in December (which was literally one book, so it’s not saying much, but STILL). So hopefully I can keep the momentum up!

I’m just gonna zoom over to your mental health rec post now. I’ve missed so many posts lately 😅

13 books is so amazing!! I only managed 2 and struggled my way through them more than enjoyed the way. But oh well, maybe this month will be better.
